It has to be done.....

November 25th, 2012 at 11:54 pm

So yesterday I told you guys about all the extra money I made with very little effort to add to my savings account. I was excited to see my account jump from $10 to a little over $120, but as you know, things don't always go as planned.

I am a few months behind on my car payments and after a call from my car loan company and much thought, I have made the step to take the extra money and get current. Would I have liked to add extra money to my savings, yes....do I need my car to get around, double yes. I will be making the payment tomorrow morning because it has to be done.

That's the right decision, and as u make more correct decisions you will attract more money your way! Good luck and stay encouraged!

Oops, no car payment listed in your budget. Christmas may be thinner than you wish but it's important to catch up arrears. Can you take on any short term, part time work in December to bring in more money? My neighbor does babysitting during the holiday season since there are so many functions, the money is surprisingly generous.

The car note is not listed because from the time I got the car Dec of 2010 up until Aug of this year I paid my car note with my income tax returns (nice trick I learned from my grandpa!), if I had to pay my note out of my budget, it wouldn't work. I have a sepreate account that my loan compamy pulls from and I had never been late. My account had to be raided for emergency reasons and I planned to repay it, but that never happened.

I do have a part-time job and my state income taxes that I have yet to file. Between that and the money I will pay tomorrow, I will have the note paid up until January until I file my taxes again and get back on the ball. This time I will have cashier checks made out for the year, so that way I can't get to the money.

I find that if I am doing right by the budget the money just seems to go further. I like your idea of getting money orders for each month from your tax return. Go ahead and make them payable to the loan company so there is no temptation.

Hi Shanna, is there any way to reduce withholdings so you have less of a refund but more each month, so that you can afford the car payment? (Maybe not if it's the Earned Income or other refundable credits.) If not, this is a good way to handle it anyway.
